Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta have mourned the late Field Marshal Muthoni Wa Kirima.
In a joint statement, on Friday September 22, the retired president eulogized Field Marshall Muthoni wa Kirima, as a patriot and a great warrior who left a huge vacuum that would be hard to fill.
Also, Uhuru in his statement described her as one of the most revered Mau Mau shujaa freedom fighters.
Additionally, the former Head of State said her footprints, particularly in the forest, shaped and played a significant role in supporting like-minded leaders in the fight to free the country from colonialists.

Moreover, he stated that the late marshal pioneered the fight for Kenyans’ rights to political, social, and economic growth toward the freedom of the country’s independence, and development.
“She is, and remains, in our rich historical liberation struggle and success. She will not only be remembered for her bravery and courage but also for her diligence and delivery to Kenya,” the statement read in part.
Relation with Uhuru and Mama Ngina Kenyatta
In her eulogy, Mama Ngina Kenyatta shared her relationship with the late Field Marshal.
“I cherish the memory and joy that we, Field Marshall Muthoni wa Kirima and myself and others, met in the recent past and shared many stories together.
I thank God for the privilege and honor to have known and shared the very challenging difficult period in our country during the colonial government, together with many others, including Field Marshall Muthoni wa Kirima, Nyina wa Thonjo,” she stated.

Moreover, they recognized the Mau Mau shujaa freedom fighters, for their selflessness, dedication, and commitment.
Muthoni was a personal assistant to Dedan Kimathi who was a freedom fighter.
The late field Marshall died on September 5, 2023, and was laid to rest on Friday, September 22.
Likewise, President William Ruto earlier mourned Field Marshal Muthoni Wa Kirima as courageous and hardworking person.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima, a powerful figure of broad influence who fought for our freedom. She was courageous, hardworking, and loved her family, served her community and sacrificed for our country, always with diligence from the frontline,” he said.
“We honor her heroic contribution to the freedom and development of our country and pray to God that He grants the family strength at this painful time. Rest In Peace, our Shujaa.”
