Deputy President William Ruto has hit back at Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa who claimed the DP almost slapped him in the past.
Speaking while on the campaign trail in Western Kenya, the DP said he was the one who gave Wamalwa his job as a Cabinet Secretary.
“I heard somebody I gave the CS job who comes from here (Trans-Nzoia County) claims that I wanted to slap him. Let me tell you this; where I come from, we do not slap women. Tell him that we respect women,” the DP said.
“Remind him to ton down. Without me, he would have been roaming around. I picked him from the streets and gave him the CS job,” Ruto added.
Wamalwa made the accusation on Saturday, July 19 while speaking during an Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition rally at Kakamega’s Bukhungu grounds.
“Ruto was furious and demanded my resignation. He wanted me to explain why I had taken leaders from Western Kenya to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta without his permission” the CS said.
Wamalwa further divulged that the DP also confronted his Interior counterpart Dr Fred Matiang’i when he was given more responsibilities by the Head of State.
