Kambiri village in Kakamega County was thrown into mourning after a woman committed suicide following the loss of Ksh60,000 in aviator betting.
Neighbors said the woman has been gambling but she could not stand the pain of losing such a huge amount of money.
“This woman has been gambling, she was betting using the new aviator. She lost Ksh60,000 in a bet and kept silent about it which led her to commit suicide,” said one woman.
The neighbor asked residents to share their problems with others so that that they can be helped and avoid such incidents.
However, another neighbor said they are not sure if that was the cause of her death since she was alone when the incident happened.
“We were told that she committed suicide after losing a bet. But we can’t know what really happened because she was alone in the house,” he said.
Another neighbor said the incident was as a result of betting. He claimed that the woman used her spouse’s money to place the bet after running out funds.
“This issue of betting has brought us problem. It seems like she placed a bet with her money but lost. She then used her husband’s money,” he claimed.
Additionally, he said the village is in shock after the incident and urged residents of Kambiri to stop keeping secrets and share their problems with others.
“We are deeply saddened by her death, and as residents of Kambiri and Isogh North Ward, I would like to urge you that if you are facing difficulties, you can talk or share with your friends, at least don’t keep it to yourself. Sharing is essential for life to go on, but keeping silent can lead to incidents like this, so it’s better to open up,” he said.
How Aviator Betting Works
Aviator betting is a form of online gambling that involves a game based on a virtual airplane that takes off and ascends at an increasing multiplier.
Players place bets before the airplane takes off and the multiplier increases as the plane ascends. The players can cash out at any point before the plane crashes.
The longer they wait to cash out, the higher the potential winnings, but if they wait too long and the plane crashes, they lose their bet.
Many players can place bet on the same plane but earn differently depending on their initial stake and when they cash out as the plane ascends.
It has gained popularity due to its simple mechanics, fast-paced nature, and the excitement of potentially high payouts.
