Citizen TV News anchor Yvonne Okwara has outlined her manifesto, highlighting the reasons she seeks to become the President of the Kenya Editors Guild (KEG).
She will be vying for the position against the current President of the Editors Guild, Zubeida Kananu, in the upcoming elections set for April 12, 2025.

Yvonne Okwara has been practicing journalism for 19 years now, and she is currently working as a business editor, news anchor, host, and producer.
Yvonne Okwara’s Detailed Manifesto
One of her priorities in her detailed manifesto is to promote media sustainability by championing models that uphold journalistic integrity while ensuring financial viability.

She also aims to promote innovation and dialogue by creating space for bold ideas, critical thinking, and open exchange among editors.
Additionally, Yvonne seeks to create stronger annual conventions for practicing journalists by making them more impactful, relevant, and offering solutions.

She also committed to ensuring fair access to learning and upskilling opportunities for journalists through training and capacity building.
As a business editor, Yvonne looks forward to building new business models in the guild by developing innovative, sustainable revenue strategies beyond subscriptions.
And amid the entry of younger generation of journalists to the media landscape, Yvonne says she is on a mission to bridge generational gaps through fostering mentorship and mutual respect between seasoned and emerging editors.

Career Background of Yvonne Okwara
Currently, Yvonne Okwara is working as a news anchor at Citizen TV.
With over 19 years of practicing journalism, Yvonne was a business editor for 5 years.
Her experience in radio, TV, production, and presentation has made her popular known in Kenya.
She pioneered a TV editorial piece, My Take, which has been on air for close to 10 years.
Okwara was also part of the pioneer team of the successful 24-hour news channel KTN News.

Linda Bach is vying for the Print Media Member category, while Kenfrey Kiberenge has been nominated for Online Media.
Millicent Awuor is the nominee for the Television category.
In the Radio category, Toepista Nabusoba and Agnes Mwangangi are the nominees, while Nathan Masambu and Julius Bosire have been nominated as Academia members.
