The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced a nationwide recruitment drive for vocational and technical trainers, declaring 1,000 vacant positions in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions under the Ministry of Education’s State Department for Vocational and Technical Training.
In a notice on December 16, PSC noted that these teaching roles are available in numerous TVETs across the country. The total vacancies consist of 600 positions specifically for trainers holding a degree or Higher National Diploma, and 400 positions designated for Diploma holders.
The declared vacancies span all regions of the country, covering both major urban centres and counties previously considered underserved in technical training.
Counties with the highest number of vacancies include Nairobi with 47 posts, followed by Kakamega with 46, Meru with 45, Bungoma with 41, and Uasin Gishu with 38. Other counties with notable numbers of vacancies include Nakuru (37 posts), Kiambu (34 posts), Kisii (30 posts), and Kisumu (30 posts).
The recruitment also covers institutions in remote and arid regions. Turkana County has nine vacancies across four TVET institutions, while Mandera has 10 posts, Wajir has 11 posts, and Garissa has eight posts, each spread across multiple institutions.
TVETs recruiting the highest number of trainers
A total of 24 institutions are recruiting the maximum advertised number of 10 trainers each, forming a significant share of the overall recruitment drive. These institutions include National Polytechnics and major Technical Training Institutes.

Among them are Bungoma National Polytechnic, Kisiwa Technical Training Institute, and Matili Technical Training Institute in Bungoma County. In Western Kenya, Shamberere National Polytechnic and Sigalagala National Polytechnic in Kakamega, as well as Kaimosi Friends National Polytechnic in Vihiga, are also recruiting 10 trainers each.
In Central and Eastern Kenya, institutions such as The Kiambu National Polytechnic, Thika Technical Training Institute, Karumo Technical Training Institute, Meru National Polytechnic, and Nkabune Technical Training Institute are listed. The Coast region includes Kenya Coast National Polytechnic in Mombasa.
Nairobi County features Kabete National Polytechnic and Nairobi National Polytechnic, while Rift Valley institutions include Rift Valley National Polytechnic, The Eldoret National Polytechnic, The Ollessos National Polytechnic, Nyandarua National Polytechnic, The Nyeri National Polytechnic, and Kitale National Polytechnic.
Each of these institutions is recruiting a mix of Degree/HND holders and Diploma holders, with allocations varying by institution.
PSC lists application requirements and deadline
Interested and qualified persons are requested to submit their applications directly to the institutions where vacancies exist.

They are required to file one PSC 2 (Revised 2016) application form and attach copies of their National ID card, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, and any other testimonials.
According to PSC, all the above-mentioned must reach the respective Boards/Councils on or before January 9, 2026 (latest by 5.00 PM East African Time).
