Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has been kicked out as Senate Majority Whip.
This was after he openly defied United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) and supported rival candidate, Seth Panyako, in Malava Constituency.
He has been replaced by Bungoma Senator David Wakoli of Ford Kenya.
Earlier, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei signalled an impending move to remove Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale from his role as Senate Majority Whip.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, December 2, Cherargei accused Khalwale of going against the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) during the recently concluded Malava by-election.
Although elected on a UDA ticket, Khalwale openly supported Seth Panyako of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) instead of backing the party’s candidate, David Ndakwa.
Cherargei said the Kenya Kwanza coalition would soon meet to deliberate on the matter, adding that a push to strip Khalwale of his influential parliamentary position is already underway.
“Senator Bonnie Khalwale of Kakamega county must pay for his political sins for challenging his sponsoring UDA Party in the recent Malava constituency by-elections by campaigning against our candidate. His contempt remarks against the UDA Party/Kenya Kwanza administration cannot go unpunished. We are going to make him an example of not undermining your own political party and bring back political hygiene under the Political Parties Act. To him we say Tawe & luwere in a subsequent manner,” Cheragei said.

Boni Khalwale Kicked Out as Senate Majority Whip
The ruling party had also summoned Khalwale over his support for a rival candidate in the Malava by-election, citing disloyalty and misconduct.
At the same time, Boni Khalwale dared the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to remove him as the Senate’s Majority Chief Whip, for supporting the Opposition candidate for the Malava parliamentary by-election instead of his party’s candidate.

Speaking at Lusheye Village in Malava Constituency on October 26 while campaigning for DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako, Khalwale claimed he was being targeted after the ruling party allegedly tried to pressure him into supporting UDA’s David Ndakwa.
He maintained that his political stand matters more to him than retaining the Majority Whip position.
“Whether we vote for the person the president wants or the person we want, it is us whom you will need votes from in 2027 when things are going to be thick,” Khalwale said.
“Those telling you to prefer one candidate over another are misleading you. You will need all of us in 2027 to succeed.”
