The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have received the first batch of presidential ballot papers for the August polls.
The batch was received by IEBC deputy chairperson Juliana Cherera at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday, July 27.
Moreover, Cherera said they had invited a delegation of 13 people to Athens, Greece, where the papers were being printed.
According to Cherera, the team were responsible for determining if the ballot papers adhered to the standards provided to Inform P Lykos.
“We invited stakeholders to check with a third eye because they are the ones that know how the photos and the details of the presidential candidates are supposed to look like,” Cherera said.
In addition, the team comprised of; religious leaders, presidential candidates’ representatives (2 UDA and 2 Azimio), civil society representatives, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, the Political Parties Liaison Committee, and the Kenya Media Council.

Mombasa will receive 19 pallets, Kwale 14, Kilifi 20, Tana River 8, Lamu 4, Taita Taveta 6, Garissa 10, Wajir 6, Marsabit 10, Isiolo5, and other counties. Whereas, Meru 27, Tharaka-Nithi 9, Embu 14, Kitui 27, Machakos 18, Makueni 12, Nyandarua 8, and Nyeri 8.
Likewise, a pallet contains approximately 54 boxes for one constituency.
Nonetheless, the second consignment of ballot papers is expected to arrive in the country on July 29. Similarly, the last batch will arrive on August 3 via commercial and private planes.
Furthermore, the ballot papers will be transferred to IEBC’s warehouse for storage awaiting to be dispatched to different constituencies.
