Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared Tuesday, August 9, 2022 a public holiday.
Through a gazette notice issued on Thursday, August 4, the CS said Tuesday will be a public holiday to allow Kenyans participate in the general elections.
“It is notified for information to the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, pursuant to and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (4) of the Public Holidays Act, read together with Articles 101 (1), 177 (1) (a) and 180 (1) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, declares Tuesday, 9th August, 2022, as a public holiday to afford the people of Kenya the opportunity to participate in the 2022 general elections. “read the gazette notice dated July 29, 2022.
Moreover, it is exactly 4 days to the polls. Kenyans will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred presidential candidate, governors, senators, MPs, Women representatives as and members of the county assemblies.
Furthermore, the four candidates contesting for the country’s top seat include; Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance, William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza Alliance, George Wajackoyah of Roots Party and Agano party’s David Mwaure.
Additionally, aspirants all over the country are in their last leg of campaigns, trying to woo voters to elect them.
Nonetheless, Azimio coalition has secured Kasarani stadium in Nairobi for their final mega rally on Saturday, August 6.
