Meet Young Kenyans Making Big Moves as CEOs Leading Top Companies and Organisations

Several young Kenyans have made great strides in the corporate and entrepreneurial world, taking up Chief Executive Officer (CEO) roles or founding companies that are transforming industries.

This article highlights young Kenyan CEOs leading notable companies and organisations.

List of Young Kenyan CEOs

  1. Felisters Gitau

Felisters Gitau, 38, is the CEO of Farmers Choice Limited (FCL), a leading integrated meat processor in Kenya and the East African region.

Before her appointment, she served as the Deputy Managing Director – Commercial at FCL from 2021 to November 2024.

Under her leadership, Felisters has championed sustainable business practices, including green energy projects, reforestation, and advanced waste-management initiatives.

She previously worked at CIC Insurance before rising through various roles at Farmers Choice, eventually becoming Director of Sales and Marketing.

Felisters holds an MBA from the University of Nairobi, a Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from JKUAT. She is also an Africa Fellow in the Senior Executive Programme at Harvard Business School.

  1. Sonia Kabra

Sonia Kabra is the Co-founder and Co-CEO of BuuPass, a leading mobility and transport technology company transforming travel systems across East Africa.

She co-founded the company at age 23, right after college.

BuuPass is an online platform that enables travellers to search, compare, and book bus, train, and flight tickets. It also provides transport operators with a digital management system to streamline operations.

Under her leadership, BuuPass has sold over 16 million travel tickets, with a total transaction value exceeding KSh12.9 billion.

The company won the prestigious Hult Prize in 2016, securing US$1 million in seed funding.

  1. Yvonne Kagondu

Yvonne Kagondu, 29, is the founder of ICP Hub Kenya and co-founder of the Kenya Blockchain Ladies DAO. She is a respected blockchain business consultant and a rising leader in Kenya’s tech ecosystem.

Since 2018, she has worked with major companies including Aeternity, Paxful, and Token Minds, leveraging her expertise in blockchain and fintech.

Yvonne holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Financial Economics from Strathmore University and studied Software Development at Moringa School.

Her career began at Kenya Commercial Bank as an intern before joining Google Digital Skills for Africa in Quality Assurance.

It was during this period that she developed her passion for blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies.

  1. Dr. Purity Ngina

Dr. Purity Ngina is the CEO of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) and is widely recognised as Kenya’s youngest PhD holder in Biomathematics, earning her degree at age 28.

Raised in Nyeri County, she has shown resilience and determination throughout her journey. After a low KCPE score in 2002, she repeated the exam in 2003 and scored 369 marks, securing admission to Tumutumu Girls High School.

She later graduated with First-Class Honours in Education Science from Egerton University in 2013 and completed her Master’s in Applied Mathematics in 2015 on a full scholarship.

  1. Alexander Odhiambo Aluoch

Alexander Odhiambo is the Founder and CEO of Solutech Limited, a leading Sales Force Automation solutions provider in Africa, supporting over 60 FMCG companies and distributors across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Ethiopia, and the DRC.

He co-founded Solutech in September 2014 at age 24 alongside Mutie Mule, Rayyidh Bayusuf, and Jinal Savla.

The idea emerged after a former employer, where three of the founders worked, collapsed, prompting them to build their own solution.

Alexander has led product development and successful implementation of automation tools for top brands such as PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Kenafric, Crown Paints, Pwani Oil, Kenya Tea Packers, Mondelez, and Hasbah.
