The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a directive on the planned nationwide police recruitment exercise after the High Court lifted the conservatory orders that had temporarily halted the process, scheduled to start on November 17, 2025.
In a notice dated November 14, 2025, NPS confirmed that recruitment will proceed nationwide on Monday, November 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
According to the Service, the recruitment exercise will take place at all 427 centres nationwide, as scheduled.
NPS further stated that the exercise will be conducted over a one-day period.
Police Recruitment to Proceed on Monday
At the same time, the service encouraged qualified Kenyan youth to participate freely in the exercise, stating that this was not just a chance to secure a job, but rather a new dawn for Kenya.
“This is not just a chance to get a job; rather, it is a new dawn for Kenya. The successful young men and women will form a new cohort of officers expected to drive the positive and reformist agenda currently underway in the Service,” stated the Service.
Additionally, NPS addressed past concerns over corruption in recruitment, warning that anyone involved in bribery, whether giving or receiving, will face the full force of the law.
The decision by the High Court to lift consovertory orders followed an application filed by the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, seeking to have the suspension vacated.

The initial stoppage was issued earlier this week, when Justice Bahati Mwamunye issued fresh conservatory orders stopping the nationwide recruitment that had been scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2025, after petitioner Karanja Matindi filed an application challenging the legality and transparency of the planned exercise.
In a ruling delivered on November 10, the judge halted the notice issued by IG Kanja, stating that the recruitment could not proceed until the court examined the issues raised in the petition.
The November 10 orders marked the second time the court had intervened to halt the recruitment, raising concerns within NPS about operational delays and understaffing. It is against this backdrop that IG Kanja moved back to court seeking to have the suspension lifted.
Requirements Needed to Qualify for Police Recruitment
Applicants will be required to meet the following minimum requirements:
a) Be a citizen of Kenya:
b) Hold a Kenya National Identity Card.
c) Age: 18-28 years.
d) Minimum grade in KCSE D+ (with a minimum of D in English or Kiswahili).
e) Be physically and medically fit.
Minimum Height: Male 5ft 8in., Female 5ft 3in..
f) Have no criminal record or pending criminal charges.
g) Female Candidates must not be pregnant at recruitment and during the ENTIRE training period.
National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet minimum entry requirements are encouraged to apply.

Upon filling in the forms, applicants must present themselves at the designated Recruitment Centers with original and copies of the following documents on the day of the recruitment:
a) Academic certificates and testimonials
b) Kenya National Identity Card
c) Birth Certificate
d) NYS discharge certificate, where applicable, with a minimum rating of “GOOD” in conduct
e) NYS graduates who meet the minimum entry requirements are encouraged to present themselves at their respective home recruitment centers.
