Allen Waiyaki Gichuhi is a distinguished legal professional with over 28 years of expertise in Dispute Resolution, Commercial and Civil Litigation, Insolvency, Recoveries, and Data Protection.
He is best known for serving as the 48th President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) from 2018 to 2020.
Early Life and Educational Background
He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honours from the University of Nairobi (UoN) between 1990 and 1995.
Following his undergraduate studies, he completed his Diploma in Law (ATP) in 1996, a prerequisite for admission to the Kenyan Bar.
The senior counsel is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) at Queen Mary University of London in International Dispute Resolution.

Allen attained the rank of Chartered Arbitrator in 2017, having progressed through the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as an Associate from 2001, a Member from 2002, and a Fellow from 2009.
Waiyaki Gichuhi is also a Certified Professional Secretary (CPS).

He was officially admitted to the Kenyan Bar in February 1997.
The senior counsel spent his early career gaining six years of experience at Dentons Hamilton Harrison & Mathews and ten years at Walker Kontos, where he led the litigation department before founding his own firm.
He is the Senior Partner at Wamae & Allen LLP, a law firm he co-founded in 2013, and specialises in commercial and administrative litigation, particularly in banking, insolvency, and medical negligence.

As the 48th President of the Law Society of Kenya between 2018 and 2020, he focused on practice matters and delivered 80% of his manifesto goals within his first 100 days.
He is an adjunct lecturer at the Kenya School of Law and has personally trained over 10,000 advocates and judicial officers.
Allen served as a pioneer Director of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA) from 2013 to 2018.
He was instrumental in drafting Kenya’s Court- Mandated Mediation Rules and the Advocates Remuneration Orders of 2006 and 2014.
The lawyer wrote the best-selling book Litigation: “The Art of Strategy and Practice” in 2017, widely regarded as an essential guide for litigators.
Achievements
Gichuhi attained the rank of Chartered Arbitrator, which is the highest global designation for arbitrators, in 2017.
He has published over 30 arbitral awards and successfully represented clients in multi-billion-shilling disputes, including a Kshs 2 billion claim by millers against the government.
The law practitioner was conferred the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) in 2019 for his exemplary service in law reform.
In May 2024, he was officially conferred the rank of Senior Counsel (SC) by President William Ruto.
