President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have announced fresh appointments and reappointments across key government agencies, boards, and state corporations.
In a gazette notice dated February 27, Ruto appointed Idah Odinga as an Ambassador and Permanent Representative in the Foreign Service to the United Nations.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 132 (2) (e) of the Constitution of Kenya, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint, Ida Odinga as Ambassador and Permanent Representative in the Foreign Service of the Republic of Kenya,” read part of the notice.
Her official appointment comes following her vetting and approval by Parliament. Ida Odinga will now assume the role of Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
Additionally, the president appointed Francis Meja to be the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission for a period of six (6) years.
Ruto, Mbadi, and Other CS’s Make Appointments
On the other hand, Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, John Mbadi, has appointed Abdi Ali Mohammed as a Member and Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Retirement Benefits Authority.
Health CS Aden Duale, on his part, has appointed Kipkoech Geoffrey, Joseph Macharia Wachira, Shadrack M. Asena, Pauline Sirote Korere, Abdirahman Noor Mohamed, and Salma Mohamed Abdi as members of the Board of Directors of the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
The appointees will serve for three (3) years, effective February 27, 2026.

Other Key Changes
In addition, Lee Kinyanjui, CS for Trade and industry has re-appointed Francis Kuria Karu, Grace Nyabonyi Momanyi, and Stephen Kipkosgei Yego, as Members of the National Standards Council.
At the same time, Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe has appointed Joseph Kiplangat Too, Frederick North-Coombes, Kizito Wangalwa, and Vasey as members of the Board of the Kenya Sugar Research and Training Institute.

CS for Youth Affairs and Sports, Salim Mvurya, has reappointed Fatma Bakari Barayan as a Non-Executive chairperson of the Board of Youth Enterprise Development Fund.
Isack Abduba Fayo has been appointed by CS for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation Eric Muriithi to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Water Works Development Agency.
The appointees will serve for three (3) years, effective February 27, 2026.
Further, Attorney General Dorcas Oduor has appointed Miriam Chepchumba Bomett as a Member of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration for a period of three (3) years.
AG Dorcas Oduor also re-appointed Samuel Mbiriri Nderitu as a member of the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration.
