President William Ruto is set to tour the Mt. Kenya Region for five days starting Saturday, August 5 where he is expected to launch a series of development projects.

The Head of State’s tour will kick off with a stopover in Githurai and Kenol before heading to Kagio trading center.

President Ruto is expected to launch a water project before addressing residents of Baricho in Kirinyaga County.

Moreover, the head of state is set to commission Marua-State Lodge Road in Karatina. The road is meant to ease the movement of goods and services as well as spur growth in the area.

Furthermore, the President’s Monday will begin by commissioning a road at Mukurwe-ini in Nyeri County.

Afterwards, Ruto will launch water projects in the neighboring Tetu and Othaya constituencies.

The head of state is expected to tour Nyeri town where he will open a bus park that Nyeri Governor Kahiga said would help in decongesting the town.

Likewise, he will unveil a new Kenya Co-operative Creameries facility in Kiganjo on Tuesday, August 8, then proceed to Sagana State Lodge for a meeting with Mt. Kenya Leaders.

According to a brief by State House, the Agenda of the meeting will include Agriculture, infrastructure, health, and education, among others.

Several leaders from Mt Kenya region are expected to attend the meeting including Governors, MPs, MCAs.

Nonetheless, the President’s development tour of the region will end on Wednesday, August 9 after opening a three-storied 175-bed capacity Naromoru Level four Hospital.

Thereafter he will launch affordable housing project in Gichugu before landing in Thika where he is also expected to commission the Karimenu Dam Water Supply Project and launch affordable housing.

President Ruto’s Mt. Kenya Tour is Damage Control

Ex-Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) manager Joseph Chege has said President Ruto’s tour to the Mt. Kenya region is not a development tour but a damage control tour.

According to Chege, a section of people in the region are currently questioning their decision to vote for Ruto.

“There are voices in Mt Kenya who are questioning their sanity to have voted for William Ruto because of what is happening in Mt Kenya.” He claimed.

While appearing on NTV on Friday, August 4, Chege mentioned the drop of coffee prices in Mathira from Ksh120 to Ksh60, noting that the residents depend on coffee as their cash crop.

Furthermore, he opined that the president will not address such issues claiming he has gone back to campaigning.

In addition, the Ex-KRA boss claimed president William Ruto is going to launch projects that were completed during retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.

“I want to tell President William Ruto that he should go for a serious development tour launching his own project and delivering to the people of Mt. Kenya the way he promised, he should not ride on the projects Uhuru Kenyatta did.” Chege stated.
