Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua has defended President William Ruto against claims of being behind the alleged raid at the former Interior CS Fred Matiangi’s Karen home on Wednesday, February 8.
Mutua stated that president Ruto is a man on a mission to transform the country, and not one out to punish his perceived political enemies.
“Our President is not a man of revenge, he’s not a man of petty politics, yeye ameshashinda anataka kujenga nchi, hakuna mtu ambaye anamfuata,” Dr. Mutua stated on Friday.
The CS further dismissed claims that the government dispatched police officers to arrest the former Interior Cabinet Secretary.
According to Mutua, Matiang’i, who is an ally of the retired President could possibly have made up the raid over what he termed as “living in a state of denial” after supporting the losing side in the 2022 General Election.

“Unajua, wakati unapoteza, unaenda through stages ambazo zina uchungu kama denial, Tumeskia rafiki yangu mwengine mkubwa akisema amezingirwa na polisi, na ni hizo stages tu, tusimchukue vibaya…tunajua unafika stage unaanza kuona mambo yako…kwa sababu tunajua serikali hakuna polisi walituma.” CS Mutua said.
Furthermore, the Foreign Affairs CS questioned how no one managed to capture a single photo or video of the action as evidence.
“Kusema ukweli, mimi nimekuwa kwa siasa na filamu kwa muda mrefu, kama kungekuwa na polisi hapo…na naskia walikuwa na lawyers mia mbili…si wangepiga picha? Si kungekuwa na video inazunguka kwa mtandao? Mbona hakuna video ama picha ata moja?” He posed.
Mutua’s remarks follows claims made by former Interior CS Matiang’i that on February 9, 2023, his home was raided, surrounded and cordoned off by police officers who were seeking to arrest him.
Matiang’ alleged that the police officers who came to arrest him only retreated after the media and his lawyers arrived.
