Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan has said the Kenya Kwanza administration has no choice but to pass the proposed Finance Bill 2023.
According to Hassan, all functions of the government depend on the proposed finance bill.
While speaking during an interview with KTN on Monday, June5, the Kamukunji MP noted that the country will plunge into an economic and political crisis.
“The ruling party has the Finance Bill as a matter of life and death. It is necessary for President William Ruto and his party to be able to push it forward,” he said.
Moreover, the lawmaker stated that there is no return from the Finance Bill as the state is deeply involved.
Furthermore, the controversial Finance Bill that is currently in the National Assembly awaiting the MPs’ decision has attracted vicious criticism from leaders and Kenyans alike.

He also noted that he will keep an eye out for the MPs who will oppose the proposed bill.
“I am waiting for the Members of Parliament who will go and vote against the employment of these young people, against housing that would give these people the chance to own a house with five per cent mortgage,” President Ruto stated.
Nonetheless, among other things, the Bill proposes that employees contribute three per cent towards the Housing Fund Levy.
According to the president, the housing fund is not a tax but a contribution and saving scheme towards the affordable housing project.
He has also noted that the contribution is mandatory.
