Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria and Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba came out guns blazing after receiving warning shots from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General (SG) Cleophas Malala.

In the letter, Malala criticized UDA leaders who have been disrespecting the party leadership and CS participating in politics.

The leaders included Wamuchomba, Kuria Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.

“Let this be a stern warning: desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behavior persist, the party will take disciplinary action against you,” Malala said.

He added, “Additionally, it has come to my attention that some Cabinet Secretaries have been involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical. Should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign and join the political arena.”

Wamuchomba Breathes Fire

In her response, the outspoken MP was categorical that she attended the Limuru III meeting since she comes from the Mt Kenya region.

“Malala welcome back from China. I hope you chewed out taxes right and enjoyed to the last drop. Yes, while you were away there was Limuru 3 forum which was the Agikuyu forum. Being the Gikuyu Iam I attended and addressed like a Nyakinyua (noble woman). What was your problem? Come clear!” she said.

Wamuchomba said Malala is threatened by the one man one vote one shilling revenue distribution formula the Mt Kenya region is advocating for.

“I guess what Rattled you is that thing we demand called EQUALITY of resources (One man one vote one shilling) an issue that you and your cronies use as a political bait. Mt Kenya population just believed in UDA on this promise,” Wamuchomba added.

The MP explained that the UDA party was founded on democratic principles including liberty and equality hence she shouldn’t be threatened.

“You have the Liberty to do the needful. I’m happy you have started the Journey it will be bumpy and Itchy. Where I come from, we don’t buy fear, we die while chewing razor blades. You touch the Hill you shake the Mountain,” she stated.

On the other hand, Kuria maintained that he will not comment on political issues until Augustas he had mentioned.

The CS however said the statement was not from Malala since it was written in English.

“As I said on 21st May, I will not make any political statements till 20th August. Someone is not happy with this and is trying to provoke me. In any case that statement could not be from Cleophas Malala because it was in good English,” Kuria said.

Kahiga Responds

Earlier, Governor Kahiga fired back at Malala stating that he is not fit to be UDA’s SG and should be kicked out during the party’s national elections.

“Ag SG Malala in UDA is like a square peg in a round hole. He doesn’t fit. I have said it before, and I repeat, we must get rid of him in the coming UDA elections,” Kahiga charged.

Kahiga said Malala’s remarks border on infringement on their freedom of speech.

He explained that UDA party and Kenya Kwanza government was never founded on threat and members must be allowed to speak their minds.

“We have come from an era where we were gagged, you could not say what you thought we could not speak our minds we were almost denied our freedom of expression. Unfortunately, we are heading in the same direction,” he said.

Oscar Sudi Says Malala Isnt Powerful

Sudi, Ruto’s close ally, rubbished Malala’s warning stating that the former Kakamega Senator is not as powerful as he thinks.

“Elevated MCA suffering from illusory superiority, thinking he matches Raphael Tuju’s calibre,” stated Sudi.

In the letter, Malala urged the young politicians within the UDA to halt campaigns for 2032 elections.

The SG said the leaders should serve their constituents and the early campaigns distract their responsibilities and disrespect the trust placed in them by the electorate.

“Should you continue with these premature campaigns, the party will take stern disciplinary action against you,” he said.
