Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua has defended embattled Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria.
Speaking on Friday, September 22, during the burial service of Mau Mau hero Field Marshal Muthoni Kirima, Gachagua vowed to protect CS Kuria against any form of intimidation.
“Moses Kuria is our son, I have heard some people saying he should be sacked, where do you want him to go to? asked Gachagua.
Also, the DP explained that as the leader of the Mt. Kenya region, he will not allow CS Kuria to lose his job.
“As leader of this region, can I allow Kuria to be intimated? You people don’t understand this region,” he said.
Further, Gachagua maintained that the Mount Kenya region must remain united in guiding its interests at the national level.
“We are united in this region, you people don’t know us well, as long as our interests are threatened, we are one,” said Gachagua.
The DP emphasized that Mt. Kenya region always unite when their interest is at stake.
“This community always holds talks at night and when we wake up in the morning things change.
Kuria Endorses Gachagua
Additionally, CS Kuria endorsed DP Gachagua as the kingpin of the Mount Kenya.
“God has blessed us and right now the deputy president, who is the son of Mau Mau is leading us here in Mt. Kenya,” said Kuria.
Gachagua had earlier called out Kuria and State House Economic Advisor David Ndii for arrogance when addressing Kenyans.
In addition, Gachagua denied the views by the duo saying it was not the official position of the government.

Opposition leaders attack DP
Opposition leaders who attended the event criticized the government for the rising cost of living.
Moreover, led by Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, the opposition defended the ongoing talks at the Bomas of Kenya.
In addition, the Azimio leaders dismissed plans of joining the government via bipartisan talks.
“We are in Bomas to be managed, I want you to know that this is very serious business,” said Kalonzo.
Former Defence CS Eugine Wamalwa slammed the government for the increase in cost of fuel.

The DAP-K party leader explained that the increased Value Added Tax (VAT) has pushed up the cost of living.
“This VAT that you increased has moved the cost of fuel and sugar from bottom to up,” Wamalwa said.
“DP is a truthful man so let’s be honest with ourselves, or the cost of fuel is low here in Nyeri,” Wamalwa asked the crowd.
However, Gachagua reasoned that the high cost of fuel is because of factors beyond the control of the Kenya Kwanza government.
