Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya or simply PK Salasya opened about the challenges he confronted to acquire his university education after losing his father.
In a heartwarming post on his social media accounts, the first-time youthful legislator revealed that he was building a house for his brother who paid his university fees.
According to the vocal lawmaker who went to Lubinu Boys High School in Mumias before joining Egerton University, he made the move to appreciate his brother for the sacrifice he made.
“I decided to build this house to my brother who paid my school fee after the death of my father in 2007 when I was in form two and supported me to join Egerton. It’s called giving back,” PK Salasya stated.
Furthermore, the MP encouraged those who are taking care of siblings, cousins, or friends to do it wholeheartedly as it will one day pay off.
“If you are supporting your bro sister, cousin, or a friend just do it, don’t tire, one day they will remember you,” the MP encouraged.
Love and hate for PK Salasya
Kenyans showered PK with heartwarming messages, lauding his acts of kindness and remembering his humble beginnings.
“Humanity doesn’t hurt. Keep up the good job master,” Muli Brian said.
“If there is a person who has been a pillar to his people, it’s this guy. He has touched the community the way nobody else has ever done,” Gathimu Wairimu.
However, to others, the MP was seeking publicity and that it was unnecessary to reveal that he was building a house for his brother after paying his university fees.
“People are doing serious things to their family and people outside here and they are not posting because we believe it’s God who was always with us in this journey thus God deserves all the glory. Stop showing because there is no reward in heaven unless you are only focused on this life here on earth,” stated Fredrick Ouma on Facebook.
Similarly, Isaiah Israel Nyakha said, “When you help a family member it’s your responsibility…when you help someone you don’t know it’s a blessing.”
Joseph Kioko Green called it petty. “You are too petty, if this is your brother, you should do it without cameras, you are just bragging.”
Humble Background
Salasya beat all odds to win the Mumias East Parliamentary seat. He did not have cash for the campaign nor a car to traverse the constituency.
