Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has set the record straight on his academic qualification after reports emerged that he was a school dropout.
Sudi often refers to himself as “Engineer,” a term that typically describes someone who designs, builds, or maintains engines and machines. In his influential world, Sudi has fully embraced this title.
While appearing on the Obinna Show on Thursday, August 2, Sudi acknowledged that many Kenyans claimed he did not attend any school.
“People say I am genuine and did not go to school. They are not wrong. It is true because I started working at the age of 15 due to poverty. But that does not mean that I did not attend any school” he explained.
“That is why I am passionate about education in my constituency and there is no student in Kapseret that can claim that he/ she passed examinations and have not gone to school because they lack school fees.”
Kapseret MP Speaks on His Education
The MP stated that Kenyans claiming he is a class two dropout are just chasing the air.
“I have a diploma in Business, and I’m currently doing My degree” Oscar Sudi said.
Sudi’s brilliance in political maneuvering appears to rest not on his academic credentials but on his sheer tenacity, ingenuity, and unparalleled political aptitude.
“Reading books and doing the actual thing is different. And that is me, I don’t believe in theory. Many people use too much English from morning and are demeaning,” he said.

Oscar Sudi stated that he would never stand on a podium and claim that he went to school, nor would he accuse others of bullying him.
He added that if he had the opportunity to learn, he would have achieved much more. The law maker further emphasized that people should not look down on those with low levels of education.
Additionally, he mentioned that he has been in and out of court for more than eight years due to issues concerning his academic credentials.
Forgery Case Against Oscar Sudi
Oscar Sudi was accused of forging a Diploma Certificate in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate after claiming he had sat for the exam at Highway Secondary School in Nairobi during the 2013 general election.

In May 2022, former Highway Secondary School Principal Patrick Maritim testified that Sudi did not sit for his KCSE exams at the school in 2006 as he had alleged. The enrollment records did not show Sudi’s name registered as a student.
In September of the same year, Simon Cherop, Sudi’s Mathematics teacher at Tulwopng’etuny Primary School in Uasin Gishu County, testified that Sudi attended the school for two years from 1995.
Cherop noted that Sudi, who actively participated in games, did not complete his studies at the school. He added that he did not know where Sudi completed his primary education or if he pursued secondary education.
Despite these allegations, the MP was later acquitted of all charges related to forging his academic documents.
