Kenyan DJ Dickson Ndegwa Nyathore, popularly known as DJ Dibul, has built a name in the entertainment industry and is one of the recognized figures in Mugithi music.
DJ Dibul explained that his name came from his official name, which he translated from Kikuyu, but he omitted the double letter in Dibul to stand out.

According to Dibul, he is the first-ever DJ to work for two competing media houses in Kenya, Kameme FM and TV and Gukena FM.
“It is by the grace and favor of God. I am the first DJ to work with competing media houses. I started at Gukena FM and worked for about five years before the Kameme media approached me following my popularity among listeners,” DJ Dibul stated during an interview at the Reke Ciume na Enee podcast.
DJ Dibul has often credited his interest in the Mugithi genre to his grandmother, who, he explained during the Jeff Kuria Podcast, loved music and used to play different songs.
