Fredah Onduso Murugi, famously known as Kwamboka, is a Kenyan actress, poet, singer, and political activist associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Onduso is known for playing Miriam in the Kenyan drama film A Family Portrait, released in 2024.

She has also become increasingly visible in political discussions and is publicly identified as the the Linda Mwananchi Youth League leader.

Early Life and Education

Onduso is associated with Bonchari, an area in Kisii, which, according to the actress, is the home.

For her primary education, Fredah attended Magenge SDAPrimary in Kenya before joining Omobera Adventist School for her upper school education.

During her education, Fredah participated in public speaking and debating at Maryhill Girls High School in Thika, where she was part of the High School Great Debaters Contest.

Additionally, Fredah has also been named best in comedy and disaster management for her creativity.

According to Onduso, her training in drama and plays with Fred Okari shaped her future and confidence in public speaking.

For her higher education, Fredah attended Rongo University, where she pursued International Relations and Diplomacy and graduated in 2020.

Between 2019 and 2020, she served as an elected ladies’ representative at Rongo University.

At the same time, Freda worked in the Deputy President’s office at the Nairobi Harambee Annex under the Department of Youth Affairs.

Family

Fredah Onduso is the firstborn daughter in her multicultural, diverse family.

Her mother, Florence Kambura, who is a teacher of English and trainer, is of Meru descent from Tharaka Nithi County.

In 2021, Fredah had her firstborn son and returned to her home county, Kisii.

Acting and Music Career

Fredah Onduso has an established screen acting credit in the Kenyan drama A Family Portrait.

The film was directed and written by Dancurf Brown, produced by Safari Media Africa, and released on December 7, 2024.

Onduso played the character Miriam in the film, appearing alongside actors including Yvonne Moraa, Obino Nyambane, Judith Kerubo, and other members of the Kenyan cast.

Before becoming a professional actress, Onduso acted in set books in 2016, with Betrayal in the City as her personal favorite.

Additionally, the actress is also a singer and has featured in songs by Ntobioke hitmakers Osoro.

Fredah Onduso and Linda Mwananchi

One of the biggest developments in Onduso’s public career has been her involvement with the Linda Mwananchi Youth League.

Onduso has also publicly supported Edwin Sifuna and the political direction associated with Linda Mwananchi.

In August 2026, Fredah gained national attention for her comments and criticisms on the Homa Bay violence during a Linda Mwananchi tour.

According to Fredah, the incident was “beyond goonism” and a serious attack with implications for Kenya’s political culture.

Following the Homa Bay violence, the activists raised the issue of presidential responsibility in the country.

“We do not elect presidents to respect them. There is a responsibility that comes with the presidency,” Fredah Onduso noted.

Her role has increased her visibility in political debates, where she has spoken on issues involving governance, employment, youth participation, and national leadership.
