Mburu Wanyoike Turning Point
Mburu’s story takes an inspirational turn with what he describes as “a sense of loss.” It compelled him to abandon the criminal path and transform his life.
Today, he stands proudly as a member of the Kenya National Fencing Federation Team, representing his Kenya on international stages.
His journey has taken him to represent Kenya on various Fencing Competitions in Cairo in 2022 and Milan in July 2023, where he showcased his fencing prowess.
He will be representing Kenya at the Paris 2024 Olympics Fencing Qualifiers.
A Fencing Mentor and Coach
In 2021, Mburu Wanyoike founded his own fencing club, Tsavora Fencing Club, where he imparts his knowledge and passion for fencing.
He holds a certificate in Physical Fitness trainer and a Master of Fencing Diploma from the ETA College in Johannesburg, South Africa.
His students, many of whom had never heard of the sport before, attest to the game’s novelty and excitement.
He sees this as an opportunity to mold young lives, steering them away from the path of crime he once trod.

Today, it stands as one of the five sports that have held permanent fixtures in the Olympic Games since 1896. Fencers don protective gear, including masks, jackets, and gloves, to ensure their safety during electrifying bouts.
Scoring in fencing is a matter of precision, monitored electronically due to the lightning-fast actions of the fencers.
