Moses Shumah is a Kenyan professional footballer who has risen through school and domestic football to become one of the most prolific strikers in Southern Africa.

Born on October 27, 2002, in Kenya, the center-forward currently plays for Zambian Super League champions Power Dynamos and the Kenya national team, Harambee Stars.

Early Life and Education

Shumah’s early development in football was shaped within structured education systems, with the striker attending Laiser Hill Academy, one of Kenya’s leading institutions in school sports.

The academy is known for combining education with competitive football, offering a platform where young players gain tactical understanding and exposure to organized competitions.

Shumah transitioned quickly from school football into senior-level competition.

Career

After completing his secondary education, Shumah began his senior football career with National Super League side Mombasa Elite.

The second-tier league played a crucial role in his development, providing consistent game time and exposure to a more physical style of football.

His performances at this level allowed him to adapt to the demands of senior competition and attracted attention from top-tier clubs.

In 2022, he secured a move to Kakamega Homeboyz, marking his entry into the FKF Premier League.

Shumah made an immediate impact despite limited preparation time, having joined mid-season and proceeded to earn a place in the starting lineup.

After joining Kakamega Homeboyz in November 2022, he made 2 appearances and scored 3 goals in the 2022/23 league season.

Over the following seasons, he established himself as one of the most effective forwards in the league, showing consistency in front of goal and improvement in overall play.

He later posted 6 goals in the 2023/24 KPL season.

His breakthrough moment came in the 2024/2025 FKF Premier League season, where he scored 17 goals to finish as the league’s top scorer.

That performance confirmed his status as one of Kenya’s leading attackers and positioned him for a move abroad.

Shumah’s performances at club level also earned him international recognition.

He made his debut for the Kenya national team in 2023 and scored on his first appearance, showcasing his ability to perform at a higher level.

In July 2025, Shumah completed a transfer to Zambian giants Power Dynamos, marking his first move outside Kenya.

The transfer marked a significant step in his career, as the striker entered a more competitive league and gained exposure to continental football.

Moses Shumah’s Record-Breaking Campaign

During the 2025/2026 season, Shumah delivered a record-breaking campaign in the Zambian Super League.

He scored 21 goals to finish as the league’s top scorer and played a central role in Power Dynamos winning the league title.

His goal tally made him the first player since the 2017/2018 season to surpass the 20-goal mark in the Zambian top flight.

At the end of the season, he was recognised with multiple individual honours, including the Golden Boot award for the league’s top scorer and the Fans’ Player of the Season accolade.

Power Dynamos finished the campaign as champions, recording 78 points from 34 matches, with Shumah’s goals contributing significantly to the team’s total of 53 goals scored.

The club won 23 matches, drew nine and lost only two.

Shumah is recognised for specific technical qualities including strong hold-up play, intelligent off-ball movement and the ability to press defenders effectively.

His physical presence and aerial ability also make him a consistent attacking threat.

Family and Net Worth

Moses Shumah has kept his personal life private, with no publicly documented details about his family or upbringing.

There is also no verified public figure for his net worth.

Shumah’s exact salary is not publicly available, as wages in the Zambian league are not disclosed, but his status as a top scorer and key player at the Zambian champions places him among the better-paid players at the club.
