The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast a brief pause in rainfall across several parts of the country. According to the latest outlook for March 11–17, Kenya Met says the rains will take a pause midweek, with showers expected to resume towards the weekend.
Further, Kenya Met has predicted that rainfall will continue over regions such as the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County.

Other regions expected to continue experiencing rainfall include the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Southeastern Lowlands.
Also, the Coast and parts of Northwestern and Northeastern Kenya will continue receiving rainfall.

However, the intensity of rainfall will reduce between Thursday and Saturday, before picking up again from Sunday, March 16.

Kenya Met Predicts Times When Rains Will hit Counties
For areas within the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and Rift Valley, that is Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, and Kakamega Counties, the howers will pour during the following times.
On Thursday to Saturday, there will be light showers expected in some areas, with sunny intervals on Saturday.
Between Sunday and Monday, rainfall is expected to return, with showers over several places.
The maximum temperatures will be 35°C.
On the other hand, for highlands East of the Rift Valley oncluding Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi Counties, there will be rains on Thursday over few places in the morning, and showers in the afternoon.
On Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny with occasional showers.
However, on Sunday and Monday will have showers increase over several places. The maximum temperatures will be 30°C.
For the North-Western Kenya counties including Turkana and Samburu, Thursday to Saturday will be mostly sunny and dry conditions.
On Sunday and Monday, rainfall is expected to return in parts of the region, with maximum temperatures of 39°C.
On the other hand, North-Eastern Kenya counties including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo with experience morning rains on Thursday.
For Friday and Saturday, the region will be mostly sunny with minimal rainfall, while on Sunday and Monday, showers are expected in the evening. Maximum temperatures will be 39°C.

Coastal and South-Eastern Lowlands Weather Forecast
In the South-Eastern Lowlands regions including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland Tana River Counties, there will be rains in the morning, followed by afternoon showers on Thursday.
On Friday and Saturday, Kenya met has predicted a dry spell with sunny conditions, while on Sunday and Monday, rainfall is expected to return.
The maximum temperatures will be 34°C.
Moreover, in the Coastal Region including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, coastal Tana River Counties, Thursday to Saturday will be mostly sunny.
However, on Sunday and Monday rainfall is expected to return in the afternoon and night. The maximum temperatures will be 34°C
“This forecast should be used in conjunction with the daily (24-hour) forecast issued by this Department. County specific forecasts are available from the offices of respective County Directors of Meteorological Services,” indicates the Kenya Met Director David Gikungu.
