The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a 7-day weather forecast for the period from April 29 to May 5, 2025, indicating a reduction in rainfall. According to Kenya Met the forecast, there will be scattered showers in a few areas of the country.
“A general reduction in rainfall is expected this week, with showers likely over a few parts of the country,” read the Kenya Met statement.

The weatherman forecasts that average daytime maximum temperatures above 30°C will prevail in the Coast, North-eastern, North-western Kenya, isolated areas of Western Kenya, and the South-eastern lowlands.
Kenya Met Predicts Rainfall Reduction in Most Parts of the Country
Average night-time conditions will have minimum temperatures below 10°C during the 7-day forecast period, expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and around Mt. Kilimanjaro.

In the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley regions, which include the counties of Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Naro, sunny intervals are anticipated in the mornings, although rains may occur in a few places.

Afternoon and night showers, as well as thunderstorms, are likely to happen in a few areas occasionally spreading to several places.
Elsewhere, in the North-western Kenya region, which includes the counties of Turkana and Samburu, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
However, there is a possibility of morning rains, as well as afternoon and night showers occurring in a few locations.
Weather Forecast in Different Regions
On the other hand, in the Highlands east of the Rift Valley region, which includes Nairobi County and its neighboring counties such as Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi, mornings are likely to be cloudy, with light rains over a few areas, giving way to sunny intervals.
Afternoon and night showers are expected in a few places in the North-eastern Kenya region, which comprises Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties. Morning rains, as well as afternoon and night showers, are likely to occur in a few areas of these counties.

In the South-eastern lowlands region, which includes the counties of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta, alongside the inland parts of Tana River, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy. However, afternoon and night showers may occur in a few places.
