The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has reaped first fruits from their new appointed leaders in the Luo Nyanza region.
UDA Luo Nyanza regional coordinator Zachariah Okoth Obado and Siaya County Manager Charles Owino have registered more than 40,000 new party members in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s home county, Siaya.
Speaking on Tuesday, November 21, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala congratulated the two leaders for such a remarkable achievement in less than one and a half months.
“We are happy today to receive a consignment of returns of membership registration from Siaya County which has been ongoing for the last one and a half months led by former Migori Governor Obado and County Manager Charles Owino,” said Malala.
“They have done a marvelous job registering over 40,000 people in Siaya, they have been doing manual registration now they have brought the data to the party so that we can now upload it in our register and subsequently upload it in the office of the Registrar of Political Parties,” he added.
Further, Malala assured the residents of Siaya that they will officially be enlisted as members of the UDA party in less than one week.
UDA Luo Nyanza Plans
Additionally, Malala told Luo Nyanza residents that the UDA party will make efforts to reach all the parts of the region in readiness for the next general elections.
“We want to congratulate them, this is just the beginning, we want to assure the people of Luo Nyanza all the way from Migori, Homabay, Siaya and Kisumu that the UDA party is going to ensure that we percolate the deepest part of the region,” stated Malala.

Besides, Malala added that the ruling party will take over the Luo Nyanza region from the dominant Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
“Last elections we did not perform well but with the momentum these leaders have brought on board we want to assure Kenyans that the Luo Nyanza is going to change,” said Malala.

Malala Attacks ODM
In addition, Malala accused the ODM party of being in a panic mode arguing that it won’t be easy for them to control the Luo Nyanza region.
“We have seen our opponents in a panic mode, they have also started registration, but we want to assure them that it is not going to be a walk in the park.
40,000 members of Siaya are already our members, therefore, even as they go to Siaya for registration they will find that there are no people to register,” added Malala.
The ruling party has been conducting grassroot registration of members in different parts of the country including Luo Nyanza.
To counter the ruling party, ODM conducted a mass registration exercise in Siaya on Saturday, November 11 and in Homabay on Monday, November 13.
