Kaplong Girls High School has been closed indefinitely following student protests over alleged sexual harassment by a male teacher, Principal Clara Mitei confirmed.
The unrest erupted late Saturday, with students demanding action against the teacher accused of misconduct.
School administrators announced the closure after tensions escalated, citing safety and the need for thorough investigations.
“The report about the school closure is true following the students’ unrest last night,” Mitei stated, adding, “We released the students to go home at 7am today after they became unruly and disrupted school operations.”
Social media users are now raising disturbing allegations involving a teacher at Kaplong Girls’ School, accusing him of sexual misconduct dating back to 2007.
According to multiple online reports, the teacher allegedly began defiling students shortly after his employment at the institution.
“While we take the students’ concerns seriously, we must also ensure thorough and impartial investigations. Appropriate actions will be taken once the truth is established,” she added.
Allegations Against Kaplong Girls Teacher
The claims suggest that the school’s administration including the principal and her deputies were aware of the abuse but failed to take any action despite repeated reports from students over the years.

Alumni of the school are now calling on the Ministry of Education, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to urgently investigate the matter and hold both the accused and the administrators accountable.
“It is painful that the people we trust with our daughters are the ones spoiling them,” one post read. “Can you imagine the number of girls affected over his 20-year stay in that school?” a user questioned on Facebook
As of now, no official statement has been released by the school or the relevant authorities.
Starehe Girls Sexual Harassment Case
This comes barely a week after the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) took action against Peter Albert Ayiro, a teacher at Alliance Girls High School (AGHS), following explosive allegations of sexual grooming, abuse, and misconduct spanning over two decades.
For years, Ayiro held trusted positions at AGHS, including Christian Union patron, drama club mentor, and spiritual advisor.

However, he was implicated in a series of allegations by former students and staff, who accused him of a calculated pattern of sexual grooming and abuse in a damning investigative report by Africa Uncensored released last week.
Following the report which exposed disturbing patterns of abuse at one of Kenya’s most respected national schools, TSC since sent Ayiro on a 30-day suspension, effective from July 15, 2025.
Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok had called for Ayiro’s immediate interdiction and arrest last week, signaling a potential criminal investigation.
“That teacher is going to be punished and interdicted. We have talked to TSC and all other stakeholders to ensure that he is arrested. No teacher has any business pursuing inappropriate relationships with learners. Any breach of trust will be met with swift disciplinary and legal action,” PS Bitok said.
