Iran has announced that it is suspending negotiations with the United States and plans to fully block the Strait of Hormuz, according to statements published Monday by the state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency.
The announcement marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, which has entered its fourth month despite repeated diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a lasting ceasefire.
According to Tasnim, Iranian negotiators will stop exchanging messages with Washington through intermediaries, citing what Tehran described as continued ceasefire violations and ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Gaza.
“No dialogue will take place” until Israel withdraws from areas it occupies in Lebanon and halts military attacks in both Lebanon and Gaza, the report said.
Tasnim also reported that Iran and its regional allies had resolved to “completely block” the Strait of Hormuz and activate additional fronts, including the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, in response to Israeli actions and support provided by its allies.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime routes. Located between Iran and Oman, it serves as a key passage for global oil and natural gas exports.

Financial markets reacted swiftly to the report. U.S. oil prices jumped more than 7 percent following the announcement, reflecting concerns that a blockade could disrupt energy supplies moving through the Gulf region.
This comes just days after President Donald Trump said he would consider a proposed agreement to pause the conflict and reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Trump indicated that discussions were taking place regarding a potential framework that could preserve a fragile ceasefire while addressing broader regional security concerns.
However, no final agreement was reached following a meeting at the White House Situation Room. In the days that followed, both Iran and the United States accused each other of violating ceasefire understandings, while military exchanges continued in various locations linked to the conflict.

Iran has repeatedly accused Israel of undermining diplomatic efforts through military operations targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. Tehran views Hezbollah as a key regional ally and has cited Israeli strikes as evidence that ceasefire commitments have not been honored.
The White House and U.S. Central Command had not publicly responded to the Tasnim report at the time of publication.
According to a CNBC report, Iran and its allied “resistance front” have agreed to take coordinated action, including the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the activation of additional pressure points, such as the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The move was presented as part of a broader response to ongoing regional hostilities and continued military tensions involving Israel and its allies.
Following the publication of the report by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, global oil markets reacted sharply, with prices rising by more than 5 percent.
