Several airlines at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will be affected by the closure of a terminal.
The Kenya Aviation Authority (KAA) has announced that terminal 1E at JKIA will be temporarily closed on Thursday, October 10.
The closure will begin at 7:00 AM.
According to the statement, the move will pave the way for essential rehabilitation works.
Further, affected airlines have been directed to conduct processing through Terminal 1A.
“Dear valued passengers, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) would like to inform you that Terminal 1E at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will be temporarily closed starting Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 0700 HRS to facilitate essential rehabilitation works.

Directive to Affected JKIA Airlines
“During this period, all affected airlines will be processed through Terminal 1A,” the notice read in part.
The authority has not disclosed how long the terminal will be closed.
“This decision has been made in order to ensure the safety of our staff and passengers during the renovation process, ” added KAA.
The airport authority has apologized for the inconvenience caused adding that it is enhancing the facility for a a better travel experience.
“Thank you for your continued support as we work to enhance our facilities for a better travel experience.”

KAA On Fuel Shortage
In a separate context in September, KAA confirmed that the fuel supply disruption impacted airport operations at the airport for several hours.
The authority apologized for the inconvenience caused by the disruption and directed passengers to check their airlines for information about their flights.
“KAA wishes to inform the public that there was an A1 fuel supply disruption this morning that affected operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The issue has been rectified, and normal airport operations have now resumed,” KAA said.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our passengers and airline partners. Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for any updates regarding their flights. Thank you for your continued support,” read another part of the statement.
“Due to maintenance of the fuel hydrants that extended beyond the planned duration at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, we experienced delays in our morning flight departures. The situation has normalized, and most of our morning flights have departed,” KQ said.
