Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has addressed concerns about the government increasing school fees across the country.
Speaking during a visit to Kikuyu Township Primary school on Monday, October 30, Machogu stated that the government will not be increasing any fees in January 2024.
Additionally, the CS indicated that every student who will sit for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will be placed in form one.
Further, he stated that the fees will remain at Ksh53,000 for national schools and extra county schools and ksh45,00 for county schools.
“We have a multi-agency that is working to ensure that exams have gone to all the schools. I also want to assure Kenyans that the government is not increasing the fees when they go to form one.
“All of them who are here are going to be placed in form one. We have enough places and there is no school fees increment,” stated Machogu.

“Our heavenly father we want to thank you for our children, the 1.2 million kids who are going to do their KPSEA examination and the 1.4 million children in Kenya who are going to do their KCPE.
We pray over these children as they are going to the exam room, give them confidence, give them peace and success. Pray for the invigilators and exam managers and transportation. We pray that none of these children will be sick and none of them will be distracted.
