Six people died in a road accident at Soy Sambu, Gilgil Sub-County, along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, authorities have confirmed.
The victims were traveling in a Toyota Wing Road vehicle heading to Nakuru when it collided head-on with another vehicle.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. on October 25.
Authorities rushed to the scene to manage the situation and investigate the cause of the collision.
Six Dead in Accident Along Nairobi–Nakuru Highway
Police report that all six occupants were traveling in the smaller vehicle when it collided head-on with the truck near the Soysambu stretch of the busy Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.
The collision claimed the lives of all six occupants of the saloon car on the spot.
The wreckage of both vehicles has been towed to Gilgil Police Station, while the bodies have been taken to Gilgil Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, awaiting identification by their families.

Is Soy Sambu Hotspot for Accidents?
Soy Sambu has long been known as a hotspot for road accidents.
In 2025, a Guardian Angel bus caught fire along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway at Soysambu, but no injuries were reported.
In 2021, nine people died and six others were hospitalized following a grisly crash in the area along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway.
The accident occurred when a 14-seater matatu collided head-on with a trailer. The driver of the trailer was taken into police custody.

19 Die in Road Accident
Additionally, in 2017, 19 people were confirmed dead after a bus they were traveling in collided with a trailer in the Gilgil area of Nakuru County.
Survivors of the 2 a.m. accident were treated at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nakuru, while those in critical condition were transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the bus was traveling on the wrong route, according to National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) Director General Francis Meja.
“The bus was overtaking a trailer without sufficient clearance, forcing the driver to swerve back into the lane to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming trailer,” Meja told journalists on Saturday.
“The miscalculation caused the oncoming trailer to collide with the right side of the bus, ripping it apart,” he added.
He confirmed that 22 people were admitted to the hospital, while 10 others were treated and discharged.
