Former Cabinet Secretary for Health and Water and Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu Kaluki has been listed as a claimant seeking financial assets linked to Kenya’s power giant, KenGen PLC.
In a Gazette Notice No. 14347 dated September 4, 2026, the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority published claims submitted by persons seeking assets as administrators of deceased persons’ estates or as agents of original owners, with the notice signed by Laban Molonko, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Trustee.
“NOTICE is issued pursuant to regulation 12 of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Regulations, 2016, that the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority has received claims for unclaimed assets from the following persons claiming as administrators of the estates of deceased persons and agents of the original owners,” the notice read in part.
The notice was issued pursuant to Regulation 12 of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Regulations, 2016, and the Authority has given members of the public 30 days from the date of publication to lodge any objection to the claims.

From the notice, if no objection is lodged within the specified period, the Authority will proceed with payment of the assets to the listed claimants.
Charity Ngilu Listed as Claimant in Gazette
The notice lists former Governor Charity Ngilu as the claimant for financial assets originally owned by Michael Mwendwa Ngilu, identified as the deceased or original owner.
The Gazette schedule identifies Kengen PLC as the holder of the financial assets linked to the claim.
Charity Ngilu is listed as the claimant/administrator in relation to Michael Mwendwa Ngilu’s estate or as an authorized agent of the original owner.
The specific entry identifies Hon. Charity Kaluki Ngilu as the claimant/administrator, Michael Mwendwa Ngilu as the original owner/deceased, and Kengen PLC as the holder.
Who is Michael Mwendwa Ngilu
Michael Mwendwa Ngilu was an engineer and the late husband of veteran Kenyan politician Charity Kaluki Ngilu, whom he married in the early 1980s. They had three children.

He died on July 1, 2006, while undergoing specialized medical treatment in Cape Town, South Africa, at about the age of 63.
In July 2026, Charity Ngilu marked the 20th anniversary of his death with public tributes, recalling their relationship and his influence on her life and leadership.
Following his death, his estate, with Charity Ngilu and their children as personal representatives, has been involved in land-related court cases, including a dispute over a Mombasa property in Changamwe valued at about KSh150 million.
Court documents in the case identify Charity Ngilu, Lunde Jemi Mwendwa, Mwende Katethia Mwendwa and Syalo Ngilu Mwendwa as personal representatives of the late Michael Mwendwa Ngilu.
