Equity Bank Kenya has appointed Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Board Member Carole Kariuki to its board.
In a statement on July 15, the NSE described Kariuki as a leader whose strategic insight and commitment to advancing Kenya’s private sector have made a significant contribution to the country’s business community.
“The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) extends its heartfelt congratulations to our Board Member, Ms. Carole Kariuki, on her appointment to the Equity Bank Kenya Board,” read part of the statement.
Carole Kariuki Career Background
Carole Kariuki began her career as an Assistant Project Manager at Nairobi Chapel Church, serving from April 2000 to February 2002.
She later joined the Sagamore Policy and Research Institute as a Research Associate, where she worked from February 2004 to February 2005, focusing on policy and development research.
In May 2005, Kariuki joined the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) as a Programme Manager, a role she held until December 2009.
During this period, she helped build partnerships between the private sector, government, and development partners to improve Kenya’s business environment.

She was appointed Chief Executive Officer of KEPSA in January 2010 and has led the organization ever since.
As CEO, she has overseen private-sector advocacy, public-private dialogue, and policy reforms aimed at enhancing Kenya’s investment and business climate.
In addition to her executive role at KEPSA, Kariuki serves as a Board Member of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
Kariuki has been instrumental in building KEPSA into one of Kenya’s leading private sector organisations, with an increasingly influential role in regional and global business discussions.
Carole has also served in several institutions, including the National Council of Administrative Justice (NCAJ), the Center for Corporate Governance (CCG) and Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration (NCIA).

Education Background
Carole Kariuki holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Public Administration and International Affairs from Bowling Green State University in the United States, which she completed between August 2002 and December 2003, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
She also earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi, where she studied from September 1994 to November 1998.
In addition, she has completed several professional courses in stakeholder management, leadership, and private sector development.
For her outstanding contributions to economic development and public policy, she has received national honors, including the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS).
