Safaricom PLC Board has appointed Dr. John Kipngetich Mosonik as a non-executive director in the board effective August 23, 2023.
Engineer Mosonik has over 35 years of executive experience in both public and private sector administration.
Safaricom while announcing changes in their board of directors lauded Mosonik for his rich career profile stretching across industries from Engineering practice in the Telecom sector to serving as a Principal Secretary in the State Department for Infrastructure.
Mosonik also served as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining during retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure.
Moreover, the former government official holds a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration (DBA) Strategic Leadership from Northcentral University (USA).

Dr. Mosonik’s Education Background
He also holds a PhD in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Moi University, Kenya as well as Postgraduate Degrees in Digital Transformation, Strategic Focus, Finance and Business Administration from renowned international universities.
Likewise, Mosonik graduated from the University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and telecommunication.
Furthermore, he is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (FIEK) and a registered member of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
Safaricom Makes two new Board Appointments
Apart from Mosonik, Safaricom has also appointed Murielle Lorilloux to the board of directors following the recent departure of Michael Joseph, a former Board Director, the resignation of John Ngumi from the Chairman position earlier this year, and the departure of Prof Bitange Ndemo as a board member.
Lorilloux is the Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer at Vodacom Group.
She has vast experience in telecommunications, having previously held executive roles at Vodacom Group in the UK.
According to the telco, Lorilloux managed business operations in European cluster markets and Vodacom’s international business.
Furthermore, she has held prominent positions such as CEO and President of the board of Vodafone Romania and served as the Managing Director of Vodacom DRC.

She has over 25 years of experience in general management, commercial strategy, and consulting within the telecom industry across African and European markets.
Similarly, Lorilloux obtained her master’s degree in economics (Management and Marketing) from Paris Nanterre University.
Murielle also holds a master’s degree in business management and strategy from the ESCP Business School.
