Jimi Richard Wanjigi is a Kenyan businessman and political strategist. He serves as the CEO of Kwacha Group of Companies, a privately owned family office.
The company’s investments span multiple sectors of the Kenyan economy, including agribusiness, financial services, industrials, and real estate.
The businessman has also developed personal investments and a high-profile property portfolio.
However, his exact personal net worth has not been individually verified because much of the family’s wealth is held through privately owned companies.
Business and Properties Linked to Wanjigi’s Family
Wanjigi is associated with Kwacha Group of Companies, a family business. Wanjigi testified about the group and its wide-ranging businesses, noting that the companies had operated since 1963 under his parents’ ownership and directorship.

The group’s interests have included agribusiness, financial services, industrial investments, international trade and real estate.
Reports have linked Kwacha to shareholdings in listed Kenyan companies including Carbacid Investments, East African Cables, Kenya Airways, TotalEnergies Kenya and Absa Bank Kenya.
Wanjigi also has a long association with Carbacid Investments, where his late father, Maina Wanjigi, served as chairman. According to Business Daily, Jimi Wanjigi had held as many as 12 million Carbacid shares in 2015, before reducing his holding to 3.8 million shares worth about KSh42 million by December 2020.
Wanjigi also owns BINS Limited, the first private garbage collection and waste management company in Kenya. Founded in 1986, the company pioneered private-sector solid waste management to support city services.
Muthaiga Mansion and Other Properties
Wanjigi owns Muthaiga residence in Nairobi. the property is a palatial family home featuring a large parking area, high-end vehicles, a manicured lawn that can serve as a helipad, security cameras, a basketball court, and tinted windows.
Beyond Muthaiga, the Wanjigi family’s real estate interests include Karen, Ridgeways, and Nakuru through Kwacha Real Estate. The family’s agricultural portfolio has also been associated with Kitamaiyu, Murang’a and Nyeri, particularly coffee-growing properties.
Another property associated with the family is Kwacha House on General Mathenge Drive in Westlands.
The high-end Caramel Restaurant and Lounge at ABC Place in Westlands has also been reported as belonging to the Wanjigi family. The restaurant became particularly prominent during the 2017 election period after it was used as a base for political operations associated with the National Super Alliance.
Reports have additionally linked Wanjigi to a flat in Park Lane, London, a home in Zurich, and properties in the United Arab Emirates.

Helicopter, Luxury Cars and Wealth Estimates
Wanjigi, through TYL Limited, purchased a Eurocopter EC130 B4, registration 5Y-JWJ, for US$1.6 million.
Other luxury cars include a 2017 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe, costing more than KSh30 million, and a 2018 Porsche Cayenne, estimated at KSh9 million to KSh12 million.
Media reports have also linked Wanjigi to TYL Limited, a company described as handling large financial transactions. However, claims about its operations and alleged involvement in government tenders are not sufficiently established to be presented as proven sources of Wanjigi’s wealth.
