M-PESA users may sometimes need to send money to other networks, especially when the recipient is not registered on M-PESA or does not use it for transactions.
Safaricom subscribers can send money to mobile networks such as Airtel (to Airtel Money), Telkom (to T-kash), or to Equity Bank accounts via Equitel lines.
However, some M-PESA users may find it difficult to navigate the process of transferring money to other networks.
This article explains how Safaricom M-PESA users can easily send money across different networks.
Sending Money via the Safaricom M-PESA USSD Menu to Airtel or Telkom
To send money from your Safaricom line to an Airtel or Telkom number using the M-PESA USSD menu, dial *334# and select “Send Money.”
From the options provided, choose “Send Money to Any Network.” Enter the recipient’s phone number and the amount you wish to send, then key in your M-PESA PIN to complete the transaction.

You will receive a Hakikisha prompt to confirm the details. Once you accept, the transfer will be finalized, and the recipient will receive the money in their Airtel Money or T-kash wallet.
Sending Money via the M-PESA App
To send money using the M-PESA App, start by opening the app on your phone and navigating to the “Send and Request” section.
Select “Send Money” and enter the recipient’s phone number or simply pick the contact from your phonebook. Next, type in the amount you want to send.
To complete the transaction, authenticate using your M-PESA PIN or biometric verification, such as fingerprint or face ID. Once confirmed, the money will be sent instantly to the recipient.
Transferring Money to Equitel
You can send money to an Equitel mobile number using Equity Bank’s M-Pesa Paybill number. The recipient’s Equitel number serves as the account number.
- Go to your M-Pesa menu.
- Select “Lipa na M-Pesa.”
- Choose “Pay Bill.”
- For the Business Number, enter 247247.
- For the Account Number, enter the recipient’s Equitel phone number.
- Enter the amount.
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN and confirm the transaction
Alternatively, Safaricom users can use the MySafaricom App. You can send money from your M-PESA account to Airtel Money and Telkom T-Kash users through the MySafaricom App.

To send money to other networks using the MySafaricom App, follow these steps:
- Launch the MySafaricom App.
- Select “Send Money”.
- Enter the recipient’s phone number (from your contacts or by typing it).
- Enter the amount you wish to send.
- You will receive a confirmation prompt to proceed with the PIN transaction. Select send.
- Complete the transaction using your M-PESA PIN or biometric authentication.
- You will receive an SMS confirming the successful transfer of funds.
The money will be credited directly to the recipient’s Airtel Money or T-Kash mobile money wallet.
