Safaricom has recorded a 12.2 percent net profit increase in the full year ended March 31, 2022.
The growth saw the company rake in Sh 77 billion in profits
Safaricom’s mobile money platform M-Pesa was the leading revenue stream with a total collection of Sh107.7 billion during the year.
In the same year, M-Pesa handled transactions worth Sh29.5 trillion.
Voice call service revenue grew by 0.8 per cent to Sh83.21 billion while mobile data revenue grew by 8.1 percent to Sh48.44 billion
During that year, Safaricom’s active customer base grew by 4.3 per cent to 32.81 million subscribers
The total revenue made by the company rose to Sh281 billion up from Sh250.4 billion recorded in 2020.
Safaricom has also pumped some Sh10.44 billion in Ethiopia for its network rollout plans in the country.
