A third year Murang’a University of Technology student has committed suicide after an alleged fallout with her boyfriend.
Samantha Nyawira Wanjugu, a degree in Tourism Management student is said to have taken her own life by hanging herself inside her house around Murang’a town.
The Dean of Students Asige Chavulimu in a memo dated April 18, 2023, announced the death of the student.
“It is with deep sorrow that the office of the Dean of Students announces the passing of Samantha Nyawira Wanjugu. She dies on 18th April 2023 after committing suicide in a rented room near Total Filling Station at around 1:30 am. The body is at Murang’a Lever 5 Hospital mortuary. Funeral arrangements are underway and the date for burial will be communicated later,” part of the memo read.

Police in Muranga are investigating the incident.
