Branch International is a popular finance app that offers instant loans with no physical documentation in Africa and India.
It was founded in 2015 as a mobile-first fintech startup aimed at offering financial services, mainly instant loans, via smartphone.
The digital lender currently has over 4 million customers, has issued over 29 million loans totalling $1 billion disbursed.
Matt Flannery and Daniel Jung are the two co-founders of the Branch digital app.
The two are from San Francisco, California, United States (U.S).
Jung is an experienced leader and has led product, engineering, operations, HR, credit, marketing, and analytics for the past 6 years.
He is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Branch company.
Daniel Jung Career & Education
Jung worked as Business Development Officer at Kiva for the branches in South Africa, Uganda, and Kenya between June 2011 and July 2012.
He was promoted to Product Manager in the San Francisco Bay Area between August 2012 and February 2015.
Jung also worked as a Financial Analyst at C-Quest Capital LLC from October 2008 and April 2010.
He started his career as a Program Associate at International Resources Group in 2007.
Jung holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in International Studies from the University of Washington.
As Branch CEO and co-founder, he leads Branch’s product development and engineering organizations.

Matthew Flannery
Flannery has been a co-founder and the CEO of Branch since June 2014.
Before founding the company, he co-founded the ground-breaking microfinance non-profit Kiva.org.
He served as Kiva CEO from April 2004 to June 2015.
Flannery also worked as a Computer Programmer at TiVo between July 2001 and October 2004.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University.
Flannery also holds a master’s degree in philosophy from the same institution.
He attended the institution between 1996 and 2001 to obtain two degrees.
Branch Leadership and Management
Premal Shah serves as the Company’s President.
He builds partnerships that advance the Branch mission.
Premal also co-founded Kiva and led the microfinance non-profit to +$1B in loans.
He started his career at PayPal and graduated from Stanford.
Akshay Tandon is the Chief Credit and Analytics Officer.
He has over two decades of experience in risk and analytics, supporting lending at firms like Capital One, Oliver Wyman, Union Bank, and Better Finance.
Most recently, he was at Lending Tree andis an alumnus of IIT Bombay.
Seun Olafusi and Anshu Agarwal
Seun Olafusi is the Chief People Officer at Branch.
She has extensive experience with Startups and worked at Uber before joining Branch.
She is a Senior Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resource Management USA and an alumnus of Covenant University, Nigeria.
Anshu heads the Finance function at the Branch.
He is a Qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
He started his career with KPMG and moved on to Credit Suisse and Maersk before joining Branch.

Anshul Agrawal & Sheila Gatonga
Anshul is the Branch’s Chief Technology Officer and leads the engineering team.
He has worked at companies like Zynga and Urban Ladder.
He graduated from IIT Roorkee, with learning stints at UFL and IIM Ahmedabad.
Sheila is Branch’s Head of Operations, East Africa.
She has a varied and rich experience across retail, banking, Telco, and e-commerce with Jumia, Citibank, and Safaricom.
Vishal Kaushik
Vishal leads Branch’s operations in India.
His decade-plus professional journey includes stints at companies such as Amazon and eLitmus.
He is an alumnus of IIM Rohtak.
