The probe into the murder of slain popular Ohangla dancer Sheila Odoyo, also known as Sheila Wegesha by her stage name, has taken a new twist after police launched a manhunt for her husband.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers in Athi River, Machakos County, while speaking to the press on Friday, May 10, 2024, said that a manhunt has since been launched for the husband as investigations into the gruesome murder intensify.

She informed the detectives that her father had left home at about 1.am on Thursday in a Mitsubishi Outlander vehicle, without saying a word.
Wegesha’s Husband on the run
“The information that we were able to gather is that the husband to the deceased had left the homestead at around 1 a.m. using the family motor vehicle. By the time of leaving, it is suspected that most probably he fled after the incident had been committed. So, the suspect in this case we strongly believe is the husband,” said Wesley Langat, DCI Athi River officer.
Police further revealed that they were able to track down the vehicle following the confession by the daughter that her father left the homestead late in the night.
According to the report, the vehicle was later traced by detectives to a car park within the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) next to Kencom bus stage.
The suspect is reported to have parked the car at around 2.30am and gave the night attendant who recorded a statement with the detectives, a Ksh450 amount as parking fees.

The Athi River DCIO boss further revealed that the suspect’s last phone signal was recorded in Narok at around 6.26am before his phone went off.
According to the detectives, the phone signal is an indication that Wegesha’s husband may have fled towards the Western or Nyanza region.
