Egerton University Announces Scholarships for Degree and Master’s Programmes: How to Apply

Egerton University has announced fully funded scholarships under the TAGDev 2.0 programme for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The scholarships are open to candidates from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan, particularly those from economically disadvantaged or marginalized communities.

“This call for Scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year is open to applicants,” read the announcement.

The deadline for applications is May 1, 2026.

Egerton University Announces Full Scholarships for 2026/2027 Intake

Applicants should note that the scholarship covers the following undergraduate and master’s degree programmes:

Programme Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture – KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent
– C+ in Mathematics
– C+ in English
– C+ in Biology or B in Biological Sciences
– C+ in Chemistry or B in Physical Sciences
– OR Diploma with at least a Credit from a recognized institution
Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management – KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent
– C+ in Biology/Biological Sciences
– C in Agriculture/Business Studies or C+ in Geography
– C in Chemistry or Physical Science
– C in Mathematics
– OR Diploma in related fields (e.g. Forestry, Wildlife, Animal Health) from recognized institutions
Bachelor of Science in Animal Science – KCSE mean grade of C+
– C+ in English/Kiswahili
– C in Mathematics
– C in Biology or Agriculture
– C in Chemistry
– OR Diploma with Credit in related field
– OR Diploma with Pass + 2 years work experience
Master of Science in Horticulture – Bachelor’s degree (Upper Second Class Honours or above) in Horticulture or related field
– OR Lower Second Class + at least 2 years relevant work experience
– Exceptional cases considered based on research experience
Master of Science in Agribusiness Management – Bachelor’s degree (Upper Second Class Honours or above) in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Commerce or related field
– OR Lower Second Class + at least 2 years relevant work experience
Master of Science in Food Science – Bachelor’s degree (Upper Second Class Honours or above) in Food Science or related field
– OR Lower Second Class + at least 2 years relevant work experience
– Exceptional cases considered based on research experience

What the Scholarship Covers

The scholarship is a comprehensive full-board package that includes:

  • Tuition fees

  • Research costs

  • Workshop and conference expenses

  • Living expenses (including stipend and accommodation)

  • A laptop

  • Internship and field attachment opportunities

  • Community engagement activities

  • Entrepreneurship training

  • Transportation costs

According to the Egerton university, given the scale of investment, successful applicants are expected to be high-performing, focused, and actively engaged students.

They are also expected to emerge as change-makers, contributing to community development and creating employment opportunities through entrepreneurship.

How to Apply for the Egerton University TAGDev Scholarship

Applications will be done in two stages and must be completed concurrently.

Step 1: Apply for Admission to Egerton University

Applicants must first apply for admission to their preferred programme at Egerton University.

Submit the following documents:

  • Duly filled admission application form (undergraduate or postgraduate)

  • Certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts, and KCSE result slips

  • A recent passport-size photo

  • Copy of National ID or passport (or birth certificate if ID is unavailable)

  • CV (for Master’s applicants only)

Submission options:

  • Email all documents as one PDF to: [email protected]

  • OR submit hard copies to the TAGDev Centre

  • OR send via post to:
    TAGDev 2.0 Programme Coordinator
    Egerton University, TAGDev Centre
    P.O Box 536-20115, Egerton Njoro, Kenya

Step 2: Apply for the TAGDev Scholarship via RUFORUM

After applying for admission, proceed to submit your scholarship application online through the RUFORUM system.

Application process:

1. Visit the RIMS portal: https://rims2.ruforum.org/

2. Create an account by registering

3. Activate your account via the email sent (check spam/junk if needed)

4. Log in using your credentials

5. Go to Calls → Scholarship Calls

6. Select Call ID: RU/2026Egerton Univ/TAGDev 2.0

7. Click Apply and fill in the application form

8. Save your progress using “Save Draft”

9. Download and print the completed form

10. Submit it together with your university admission application

11. Upload it to the university portal or submit a hard copy

    I was a student at Egerton and I was a student of bachelor of arts and social science but due to my family background and I could not raise my school fees and accomodations fee I was forced to drop out since 2017 in my second year till now I can’t afford to be back in school to further my career.
    I am a bodaboda rider now in isiolo at least to feed my family and siblings with my aging mother.
    I have come across this scholarship and I see my dream come true if possible. Kindly help me get this scholarship to help my remaining family.
