Alliance High and Moi Kabarak are among the schools that erupted in celebration following the release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, after reporting strong overall performance.
According to statistics shared by the Education CS, 1,932 (0.19%) candidates obtained an overall mean grade A (plain) in the 2025 KCSE examination.
Of these, National Schools had a total of 1,526 As (Plain) across the country.
The Kenya Times has compiled a summary of how some of the best schools in the country performed in the 2025 KCSE.
Moi High School Kabarak
Moi High School – Kabarak posted an outstanding performance in the 2025 KCSE.
The school achieved a mean score of 10.599, with 82 of its 406 candidates scoring grade A. In addition, the Nakuru-based school registered 150 A-s, 119 B+, 43 B, and 9 B-. This marked the school’s highest level of performance to date and elevated it to the top among the best schools in the 2025 KCSE.
Alliance High School (AHS)
Alliance High School, a historical giant in the national examination, also posted an exceptional performance in the 2025 KCSE after presenting 461 candidates for the examination.
The school attained a mean score of 10.4707, with strong results that included 128 A grades, 141 A- grades, 92 B+ grades, 48 B grades, and 32 B- grades.
The results also included 15 C+, 2 C, and 3 C- grades.
Maranda High School
Maranda High School, another traditional heavyweight, recorded an excellent performance in the 2025 KCSE.
The school achieved an impressive mean grade of 10.2, with 98.24 per cent of the candidates qualifying for direct university transition, reflecting a positive deviation of +0.44385 from the previous year.
The results were marked by top grades, including 101 A grades and 184 A- grades, 124 B+, 66 B, 49 B (minus), 33 C+, 6 C grades, and 4 C (minus) grades.
Maseno School
Maseno School delivered an outstanding performance in the 2025 KCSE, presenting 805 candidates for the examination.
The school achieved a mean score of 9.8335, with 96.3 per cent of the candidates attaining C+ and above, qualifying for direct university transition.
The results included 89 A grades, 241 A- grades, 176 B+ grades, 152 B grades, 76 B- grades, 40 C+ grades, 22 C grades, and 8 D+ grades, with no candidates scoring D, D-, or E.

Meru School
Meru School posted an excellent performance in the 2025 KCSE, presenting 545 candidates for the examination.
The school attained a mean score of 9.9743 (B+), with a strong grade distribution: 69 A grades, 136 A- grades, 153 B+ grades, and 117 B grades.
Kitui School
Kitui School recorded an improved performance in the 2025 KCSE.
The school achieved a mean score of 9.718, up from 9.5336 in 2024, reflecting a positive improvement index of +0.184.
The results included 17 A grades, 87 A- grades, 109 B+ grades, 83 B grades, and 41 B- grades, underscoring steady academic growth and strong overall outcomes.
Nyambaria Boys
Nyambaria Boys High School posted a strong performance in the 2025 KCSE, presenting 1,034 candidates for the examination.
The school attained a mean score of 8.06, with 925 candidates, representing 89.29 per cent, qualifying for direct university entry.
The results included 21 A (minus) grades, 99 B+ grades, 285 B grades, and 214 C grades, reflecting a solid overall performance across the cohort.
Kisii School
Kisii School recorded a solid performance in the provisional 2025 KCSE results.
The school posted an overall pass rate of 90 per cent. Their Performance included 1 A (plain), 108 B+, 158 B, 144 B-, and 89 C+ grades. Kisii School attained a mean score of 8.523 in the 2025 KCSE.
Kakamega School
Kakamega School posted a steady performance in the 2025 KCSE, presenting 670 candidates for the examination.
The school attained a mean score of 8.1, with the grade distribution including 11 A grades, 49 A- grades, 102 B+ grades, 127 B grades, and 132 B- grades. A total of 539 candidates, representing 80.45 per cent of the candidature, attained C+ and above, qualifying for direct university entry.
