The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has issued a notice to students who secured admission to the college but missed the March 2026 intake window.
In a notice on Tuesday, May 12, KMTC stated that it has opened a deferment window for students who failed to report for various reasons.
According to the college, the affected students can now move their admission to the September intake by deferring their current year of study.
“Missed the March 2026 Intake? Don’t worry! KMTC has officially opened deferment to the September 2026 Intake for students who were unable to join the March 2026 class,” KMTC said.
“Access the deferment option through the admissions portal and secure your chance to continue your healthcare training journey.”
KMTC Opens Deferment Window for Students Who Missed March Intake
The college will open applications for the September intake, and students who defer now will study alongside the new students joining in September.
Deferments are only valid for one academic year.
The institution also clarified that both current and newly admitted students are eligible to apply for a change of campus through its admissions portal.
While responding to social media queries, the institution addressed concerns from students seeking transfers due to distance and accessibility challenges.
“How can you do a school transfer? I was placed in Kisii, but the distance is discouraging. I am from the furthest point of Meru near Ukambani,” a student asked.
In response, KMTC said: “You can apply for a change of campus on the admissions portal.”

KMTC Shifts Deferment Application Online
Previously, students who were unable to accept their admission offer for one reason or another were required to write an official letter to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The letter was to be sent via post, courier, or hand-delivered to the KMTC headquarters, requesting deferment.
Failure to communicate within the required process would result in the admission slot being allocated to another applicant.
However, currently, requests for deferment of studies are being submitted through the official KMTC admissions portal.

How to Apply for Deferment
Applicants are required to follow the outlined steps when making the request.
First, they should log in to the admissions portal. On the top left of the screen, click the arrow to open the dropdown menu. From there, select either deferment, change of course, or change of campus.
After selecting the required service, students are expected to enter the required details and submit the request.
Once submitted, the application status will remain marked as “submitted” until it is reviewed by the Admissions Office.
After a decision is made, applicants will receive a text message confirming whether their request has been approved or declined.
