Magereza Academy is a boys’ public secondary school located in Naivasha Sub-County, Nakuru County.
The school was established in the 2011 for learners, particularly families associated with the Kenya Prisons Service and the local community.
Since its establishment, the school has operated as a boys’ boarding secondary school, offering the 8-4-4 curriculum at senior secondary level, aligning its structures with Kenya’s ongoing education reforms.
Magereza Academy was formerly classified as a Sub-County school and is now in the C2 category under the Ministry of Education’s revised classification of public senior schools.
Admission into the school was initially based on performance in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
Wth the rollout of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system, KCPE was phased out and replaced by the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).
Placement into Magereza Senior School is now guided by performance in the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA), in line with national education policy reforms.

Magereza Academy History and KCSE performance
In October 2005, the department, in conjunction with the office of the vice president and the Ministry of Home Affairs, proposed establishing Magereza Academy to serve the children of prison staff.
In October 2006, the commissioner of prisons, Gilbert Omondi, the permanent secretary, M.O.H.A., the vice president, and members of staff agreed to raise funds for the proposed academy.
On 6th January 2011, the Ministry of Education deployed Mr. Macharia as the school principal.
The school first admitted its students in 2011 as a public day school in Naivasha.
As 2011 closed, the school had a total enrolment of 21 students, and in 2012, the school transitioned to boarding, and the enrolment increased by 81.7%.
Magereza Academy has posted steady KCSE performance over recent years, reflecting gradual academic improvement.

Magereza Academy School fees
