Oloolaiser High School is a national boys’ boarding secondary school located in Kajiado North Constituency, Kajiado County.
The institution was founded in 1967 and officially opened in the early 1970s by Kenya’s first President, the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, as a harambee day mixed secondary school.
Since then, the school has undergone a significant transformation and now operates as a three-stream boys-only boarding school, occupying a 38-acre parcel of land.
It currently serves over 600 students, supported by a dedicated teaching staff of more than 32 educators.
Oloolaiser High School was elevated to national school status in recognition of its continued academic and infrastructural growth.
Each year, the school admits over 200 students based on academic merit and school preference, as per Kenya’s national education placement policy. Previously, admissions were based on the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
However, from 2023 onwards, selection has transitioned to the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) under the new Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework.
Oloolaiser High School KCSE performance
The learning institution posted a commendable performance in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination, achieving a mean score of 8.1165, which translates to a mean grade of B-.
Out of the 249 candidates who sat the exam, 1 student scored an A, 17 attained A- (minus), 45 scored B+ (plus), and 40 obtained a B (plain). Additionally, 63 candidates earned a B- (minus), while 37 achieved a C+ (plus). The school also recorded 27 C (plain), 12 C- (minus), 6 D+ (plus), 1 D (plain), and no E grades.
A total of 203 students, representing 81.53% of the class, qualified for direct university entry by scoring C+ and above.

Oloolaiser also demonstrated strong academic performance in the 2023 KCSE, with over 200 candidates (88.55%) qualifying for direct entry to public universities.
The school recorded an impressive mean score of 8.7004, equivalent to a Grade B, in the examinations. In terms of individual performance, the school produced 1 student with an A, 24 with A-, and 51 with B+. Additionally, 62 students attained a B plain, while 45 scored B-.
A further 18 students achieved C+, qualifying for direct university admission. In addition, 16 students scored a grade C, 9socred a C-, while the lowest grade was a D+ obtained by one student.

According to the Ministry of Education’s 2020 guidelines, national schools in Kenya were grouped into four clusters to standardize annual school fees across the country.
Oloolaiser High School falls under Cluster Two (II), which caps the official annual fee at approximately Ksh75,798 per student.

However, the total amount payable may vary slightly depending on the school. This is due to additional charges that may be included for items such as school uniforms, motivation programs, and co-curricular activities, which are determined at the institutional level.
