The Teacher Education Examinations are professional examinations administered to persons wishing to join the teaching profession at various levels.

ECDE Examinations
Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) examinations are taken by students who wish to specialize in Early Childhood Education.
PTE Examinations
Primary Teacher Education (PTE) is a two-year course taken by students who wish to be teachers at the Primary School level after they complete the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
Students who pursue the course are awarded a Certificate in Primary Teacher Education.
TCAE Examinations
The Teacher Certificate in Adult Education (TCAE) examination is a two-year course taken by students who wish to be teachers at Adult Education centres after they complete their KCSE examination.
The students who pursue the course are awarded with Certificate in TCAE. This examination is administered to eligible candidates within Kenya by the Directorate of Adult and Continuing Education, in the Ministry of Education, on behalf of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

Go to the official KNEC website: www.knec.ac.ke. - Create an Account / Log In
- If you’re a new user, register and create a profile.
- If you already have an account, log in using your credentials.
- Select the Examination Type
- TTC: Teacher Training Certificate
- PTE: Primary Teacher Education
- DTE: Diploma in Teacher Education
- Fill in the Application Form
Provide your personal details, academic qualifications, and preferred examination center. - Upload Required Documents
Commonly required:
- Academic certificates and transcripts
- National ID or birth certificate
- Passport-sized photograph
- Pay Examination Fees
Pay the required fee through the KNEC portal using available payment methods. - Submit Application
Review your details carefully and submit the application. - Print Confirmation Slip
After successful submission, print the confirmation slip for your records. - Check Examination Dates and Venue
