Dr. Hezron Osano, a Senior Lecturer at the Technical University of Kenya, has been appointed as an International Ambassador of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
Osano is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business and Management Studies at TUK, a position he has held since 2018.
He is among a select group of eight global professionals appointed on June 10 following a rigorous selection process by the IEDC Board of Directors.
As an International Ambassador, Dr. Osano will participate in high-level global networking, gain access to specialized training and resources, and help shape cutting-edge research to inform public policy and strategic decision-making.
He will represent IEDC globally, connecting with economic developers worldwide and helping to strengthen international partnerships.
The appointment also supports his academic work by providing opportunities to represent TUK at international conferences, promoting staff and student development programmes, and building partnerships with leading global academic institutions.
TUK Lecturer Appointed IEDC International Ambassador
IEDC is a top global non-profit organization for professional economic developers, with over 4,500 members.
It is dedicated to advancing economic growth, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development through research, training, and policy tools.
IEDC members typically work in public and private institutions such as city, county, and state governments, chambers of commerce, and public-private partnerships.
Their goal is to improve the economic well-being and quality of life in their communities by creating, retaining, and expanding jobs, attracting investment, and strengthening the tax base.

From rural to urban, public to private, and local to international settings, IEDC members are involved in the full spectrum of economic development efforts.
Dr. Osano holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration with a specialization in Entrepreneurship from Kabarak University, Kenya (2015).
He earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Strathclyde, UK (2002), focusing on international business, organizational innovation, finance, and strategy.
His academic achievements also include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University, USA (1990), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Brunel University, UK (1994).
Certifications and Professional Affiliations
Complementing his formal education, Dr. Osano has pursued several high-impact certifications, including “Global Health Delivery” and “Higher Education Teaching Delivery” from Harvard University.
Others include Advanced Project Management” from the University of Cape Town, and “Advanced Leadership Skills in the Public Sector” from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
