Harambee One is the presidential aircraft, registered KAF308, operated by the Kenya Air Force and used for official travel by Kenya’s Head of State.

The Fokker 70 has been part of Kenya’s presidential fleet since 1995 and has served four presidents: Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki, Uhuru Kenyatta, and William Ruto.

The aircraft has undergone extensive maintenance, interior refurbishment, and systems upgrades in the Netherlands.

Since its return, flight-tracking data has shown KAF308 conducting several domestic movements, providing a clearer picture of the airports from which the aircraft operates.

Moi Air Base, the Aircraft’s Historic Home

KAF308 is associated with Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, Nairobi, where it arrived in Kenya on December 20, 1995, from the Netherlands.

The aircraft is a Kenya Air Force asset and not a commercial aircraft, so its movements and operational arrangements differ from passenger airlines.

As a presidential and VIP transport aircraft, it can operate to other airports depending on the official program, destination, and operational requirements.

Among the airports linked to its recent operations are Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Moi International Airport in Mombasa and Malindi Airport, while flight-tracking reports have also recorded movements involving Eldoret. Recent reporting based on flight-tracking data identified domestic sectors connecting Nairobi, Eldoret, Mombasa and Malindi.

Recent Harambee One Movement

Since the return of Harambee One from the Netherlands, the aircraft has conducted several domestic flights in the country with the registration FLOKI100.

A spot check on September 2 showed that KAF308 had made domestic journeys involving Nairobi, Mombasa and Malindi between August 25 and September 1. The aircraft has been operating under the FLOK100 designation during this period rather than the Kenya 001 callsign associated with presidential operations.

Recent Flightradar24 records show Kenya Air Force Fokker 70 KAF308 making repeated journeys between Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Mombasa’s Moi International Airport. The aircraft flew the Nairobi–Mombasa route on August 28 and September 1, before making another Nairobi–Mombasa flight on September 2.

What changed after the Netherlands Overhaul

KAF308 spent a year undergoing maintenance in the Netherlands after leaving Kenya in August 2025. Fokker Services Group carried out what it described as an extensive hangar program involving deep maintenance, interior work and systems upgrades.

One of the major additions was the Gogo Galileo FDX Satcom system, supplied by GoGo Business Aviation. The system uses Eutelsat OneWeb’s low-Earth-orbit satellite network to provide high-speed connectivity while the aircraft is airborne.  The upgrade was undertaken alongside work on the aircraft’s interior and onboard systems.

The aircraft itself is more than three decades old, having entered Kenyan service in 1995. Although originally designed as a Fokker 70 passenger aircraft, the presidential version was configured for VIP duties and has a 26-seat arrangement.
