President William Ruto on Thursday, March 20 nominated Stephen Isaboke as the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary.
The Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei in a circular on Thursday, March 20, said that Isaboke was nominated to replace Prof. Edward Kisiang’ani who has held the role since November 2022.

Prof. Kisiang’ani on his part was appointed as the Senior Advisor & member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors in the new changes.
Stephen Isaboke boasts more than 33 years of professional life in Kenya and the rest of Africa including MultiChoice Africa Group, one of the leading media and entertainment companies in Africa.

The Broadcasting PS nominee has held the role of Chairman and Non-Executive Director of GOtv Kenya Ltd, a Multichoice Africa Group subsidiary.
He has also worked as the Group Executive, Head of Regulatory Affairs, at MultiChoice Group responsible for Sub-Saharan Africa (48 countries) based in Dubai.

Isaboke was appointed to the role in 2018 when MultiChoice Africa announced two high-profile executive appointments aimed at strengthening the group’s business strategies to provide only the best content on DStv and GOtv and to ensure great customer experience.

Before the appointment, he worked as Managing Director and Regional Director for East Africa at MultiChoice Africa Group companies between 2008 and 2018.
Profile of Stephen Isaboke
Occupying senior management and executive positions, the Broadcasting PS nominee’s experience also encompasses a broad range of sectors.
He kickstarted his career at Unilever in 1993 as a brand manager before he joined Sara Lee Household & Body Care as senior brand manager in 1995.
Isaboke then joined global energy and petrochemical companies Group Shell in 1998 where he served in different roles including head of the commercial department until he left in 2007 to join Multichoice.

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing FCIM (UK), where he earned a Diploma in Marketing Management in 1996, and a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Kenya.
The PS nominee has also served in several non-profit entity boards including Operation Smile Mission in Kenya (OPSMIK) and the Kenya national football team-Harambee Stars-management board.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) Business Administration degree from University of Nairobi (UoN).
