Twenty-one passengers who were to travel to Dubai got arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for presenting fake Covid-19 certificates.
The Ministry of Health decided to perform an inspection that led to this discovery. Additionally, the twenty-one arrested passengers were found with fake yellow-fever documents. The officers from the ministry scanned their documents and found out that they were not legitimate.
The passengers were to fly to Dubai.
Kenya’s Covid-19 Second Wave
Kenya is among other countries in the world battling the second wave of COVID-19. In the last few days, the UAE cited that some travelers from Kenya have been presenting fake COVID-19 clearance certificates.
The clearance states they are COVID-19 negative but upon testing in Dubai they turn positive which raised alarm.
Kenya UAE Visa Ban
Kenyan is among thirteen other countries which were issued with a Visa ban by the United Arab Emirates, due to an increase in its COVID-19 cases.
The operation follows the suspension of visa issuance imposed on Kenya and some twelve other countries. This is because over an alleged rise in the number of fake documents being presented by their nationals upon arrival in UAE states.
The United Arab Emirates Visa ban for Kenya has also spelt doom for countries such as, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, Syria, Turkey, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
When issuing the ban, the UAE stated that those who had already been issued with Visas would not be affected by the ban.
